Under the national minimum standards 50% of the staff present in the setting need to be suitably qualified, including the person in charge. The person in charge needs to have a childcare or playwork qualification at level 3 and 50% of other staff, a minimum of level 2. It is worth remembering that in order to maintain this level of qualification where staffing is rotated then the number of suitably qualified staff should be higher.
