Q: What are the staffing ratios needed in our day care nursery and after school club?

A: In an out of school club, the minimum staffing ratio is 1 adult to 8 children aged three to seven years. For a day care nursery the ratios are: 1 adult to every 3 children under the age of 2, and one adult to every 4 children aged 2. The ratio is the same as for out of school clubs for children over the age of 3. This ratio includes any children of staff and volunteers.
