Awareness Days

Sunday the 1st to Tuesday the 31st of January 2023 – Walk your Dog Month

January 1st marks the beginning of Walk your Dog Month. The month aims to get you and your four-legged friend out in the outdoors. Not only is walking your dog beneficial for their wellbeing, but walking is a great and gentle exercise that promotes your physical and mental wellbeing. Don’t forget to wear bright colours or reflective items during these dark winter days!

Sunday 15th of January 2023  – World Religion Day

This Sunday we celebrate World Religion Day, which is an annual event taking place each January which aims to promote understanding and peace between all religions. It also aims to nurture mutual understanding and tolerance, and peace between peoples of different backgrounds. Visit BBC Teach’s guides for more information.

Friday 6th of January – Monday 10th of February 2023 – Big Schools Birdwatch

Schools all over the UK are encouraged to join the Big Schools Birdwatch which consists of a simple bird survey for pupils to take part in and enjoy together. The results, taken over one hour also contribute to the Big Garden Birdwatch, which is the world’s largest wildlife survey. To get involved sign up on the RSPB’s website to access their resources. This is also a good opportunity to learn more about the species of birds that are found in your local area, and perhaps take part in an activity such as making fat balls for the birds to enjoy over the winter months.
