World Book Day 2023

This year, World Book Day is taking place on Thursday 2 March 2023 and the emphasis is on making it YOUR World Book Day.

What is your favourite book so far? How about encouraging children at the Club to bring in their favourite book to read or talk to others about it?  And maybe create a club library where used/discarded books can be brought in and reused/re-read by other children?   This too may be an opportunity to think about getting more Welsh books for those learning Welsh to use in the club. Check out some useful websites below for books you may like to obtain for the club.

Fairtrade Fortnight 27 February 2023 – 12 March 2023

The Fairtrade Foundation spreads a simple message this fortnight. They want to encourage everybody to make the switch to Fairtrade products to protect the producers of some of our favourite foods such as coffee, bananas, and chocolate, as well as protecting the future of the planet. Climate change is impacting harvests and this impact combined with unfair trade is pushing the communities growing crops such as bananas to the brink. Visit the fairtrade website for more information on how you can make a switch to fairer and more sustainable products.

World Wildlife Day 3 March 2023

This year’s theme for World Wildlife Day honours those who make a difference to wildlife. It is an opportunity to celebrate the beautiful and varied fauna and flora around the world and to raise awareness about conservation and its benefits and importance. The day also reminds us of the need to fight against wildlife crim and the man-made reduction of species. The day fits into the Sustainable Development Goal 15 as set by the UN, and there is a dedicated website for the day to raise awareness. Twinkl also has some child friendly activities and resources to do this World Wildlife Day.
