Awareness Days

5 May 2023 Vesak Day

Vesak means the day of the full moon and is the most sacred day for Buddhists. It is also known as Wesak or Buddha Day. It is a celebration of Buddha’s birthday and, for some Buddhists, marks his enlightenment (when he discovered life’s meaning).

It is also a time to reflect on his teachings and what it means to be Buddhist. For more information on Vesak click here.

1-7 May 2023 Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week is a campaign dedicated to talking aboput mental health problems before, during, and after pregnancy. It aims to raise public and professional awareness of perinatal mental health; advocating for women and families impacted by it; changing attitudes; and helping people access the information, care and support they need to recover. Each day has a different theme which can be found on the website, but the overarching theme for this year is ‘together in a changing world’.

4 May 2023 – Star Wars Day

Star Wars Day is an informal celebration about all things Star Wars. The 4th of May is chosen because it sounds like the quote from the franchise ‘May the force be with you’. If you haven’t watched Star Wars perhaps today is the day to finally watch it! You could celebrate Star Wars Day with themed games and activities in your club!,
