What is a voluntary management committee?
- A group of individuals with overall management responsibility for an Out of School Club, meeting legal obligations and running efficiently and in line with your governing document.
Why voluntary managed out of school childcare clubs?
Clubs can be set up in different ways. Voluntary run clubs:
- Empower communities to meet social needs – enabling children to play and communities to prosper
- Create local employment/volunteering/ training opportunities
- Have a range of expertise/backgrounds to ensure inclusion, quality and sustainability
- Re-invest profits
- Can access funding
- Enable children’s right to play AND using community buildings
What are the essential responsibilities of committees?
- Decide aims/objectives.
- Plan for the future.
- Legal duties and policy.
- Money management for financial stability.
- Use assets to meet aims/objectives
- Recruit and manage staff/volunteers. Be a responsible employer.
- Manage public image and represent your club.
- Recruit and induct new committee members.
- Attend regular/productive meetings, follow your rules, act with reasonable care/skill.
