Children, Young People and Education Committee - CONSULTATION LAUNCH

How is the outbreak of COVID-19 is affecting all aspects of life for children and young people?

Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs is collecting evidence for the Children, Young People and Education Committee.If you would like to contribute, please email us contact@clybiauplantcymru.org about your views on, and experiences of, the impact of the pandemic by Monday 25th May and we will collate it and submit it on behalf of the sector.  Please note that it is not necessary to respond under all headings.  Please focus on the ones that are most relevant to you.

The Committee is keen to consider the impact of Covid-19, and measures adopted to manage the pandemic, on the following areas, (and any other areas you wish to draw attention to):

  • The physical and mental health of children and young people.
  • Early childhood education and care, including impact on the childcare market and childhood development.
  • Children’s rights.
  • Parents and carers.
  • Exams and qualifications (including vocational qualifications).
  • Support available for the workforce, including (but not limited to) health, social care, education, children’s services, and youth workers.
  • Vulnerable and disadvantaged children (including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, children in need, looked after children and children eligible for free school meals).
  • Children’s services, including social care and safeguarding.
  • Statutory school education, including arrangements for remote learning, continuity of learning, the impact on educational outcomes and the implementation of the critical workers policy.
  • Student financial support including the impact on students who have lost their part-time employment.

We will anonymise views before they are collated and published by the Committee.  Before accepting material from those aged 13 or under, we require authorisation from the young person’s parent or guardian. This may be provided in the form of an email from the young person’s parent or guardian.
