Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs has developed a range of resources and guidance to support Out of School Childcare Clubs during the Covid-19 crisis. These can still be accessed on our website’s news page (www.clybiauplantcymru.org) and include information on UK and Welsh Government (WG) funding support schemes such as the Coronavirus Job Retention and Self-Employed Income Support Schemealong with relevant and regular updates from CIW, HMRC, WG and others. We have also created templates that Clubs can adapt for their own use including our Covid-19 policy, letters to agree furlough of staff and for childcare/playwork staff still working in settings and ‘Keeping In Touch’ guidance and templates to support furloughed employees.
We have telephoned or emailed all of our Out of School Childcare Community over the past few weeks, listening to your concerns and immediate fears, as well as discussing longer term challenges. Over half of you told us that your ability to ensure your sustainability during closure/limited opening for critical workers and vulnerable children and your sustainability once you fully re-open is now your key concern.
As well as lobbying Welsh Government and other funders to review the eligibility requirements on their grant streams, Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs, through our National Lottery Community Fund Project ‘Connecting and Supporting Out of School Childcare Clubs and Communities’ is responding to your concerns by developing resources on funding, financial systems, marketing, staffing, governance and templates to prepare for reopening. Guidance will be available to all and templates will be available to members over the coming months:
Guidance and templates to support Clubs to reopen such as a reopening checklist, questionnaire to determine take up of places when Clubs are able to reopen, health and safety checklists and guidance on how to support play with social distancing and infection control.
