You will need a policy to address how you will be preparing to re-open, and addressing changes to key policies and procedures whilst social distancing guidelines are in place. We have created a template Re-Opening Following Temporary Closure (COVID-19) Policy which is available here.
You will need to complete a risk assessment prior to opening, and on a continual basis to reflect any changes to guidance or legislation. We have created a template risk assessment with suggested risks that are likely to need to be considered in light of COVID-19 here You will also find the Public Health Wales: All Wales Infection Prevention and Control Audit Tool for Childcare and Education Settings in Wales (2019) here.
You will need to implement a revised cleaning rota, considering communal areas and frequently used areas, outlining who is responsible for cleaning and how frequently cleaning will need to occur. A template rota can be found here.
Social distancing guidelines will have an impact on your play environment and activity plan. However, play remains essential for children’s health and well-being. We have developed a useful guide for how to support play within social distancing guidelines here.
Supporting the mental health of children re-entering your Club will be essential. We have written a guide that will support you to consider ways of promoting children’s mental health here.
Reviewing your financial plan and funding needs will be an essential part of preparing to re-open. Specific funding guides and support will be available shortly via our website, with some templates available for members only.
