Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registered Out of School Childcare Clubs must review their Quality of Care on an annual basis, to ensure that your service continues to meet the highest standards of safe, quality childcare and play; that it offers the best experiences for children and that it supports their well-being outcomes. The Report is your opportunity to reflect on your strengths and areas for improvement, identifying actions required and how these will be monitored and measured.
Childcare and Play Providers should have completed a Self-Assessment of Service in Spring 2020 and if you completed your Quality of Care Report at the same time, as a reminder you should now be reviewing this and seeking feedback from parents/carers and children to ensure your service still meets the needs of its users and the local community.
In August 2019, CIW prepared useful guidance on things to consider when completing a Quality of Care Report, along with a template that can be used by Providers (this is available on their website). As noted on the guidance, it is important to include your own judgement to rate how well you are doing in the areas of well-being, care and development, environment and leadership and management.
