Addressing the Barriers: Care Inspectorate Wales Inspections
[24/03/2021]

The benefits of registering your Out of School Childcare Club with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) for businesses, parents/carers and children are typically understood. However, you may currently be continuing to offer an unregistered service due to apprehension about the day to day requirements of running as a registered Provider, including inspection anxiety.

Clwb San Sior, Llandudno in Conwy have kindly provided an insight into one of their face to face CIW inspections, pre Covid-19, including the support available through Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs on an ongoing basis to help Clubs be ‘inspection ready’ at all times. Inspections do not have to be a cause of anxiety, but can be a great opportunity for you to show off the excellent quality play spaces you offer to children within your community, and the difference you make for these children and for working/training parents/carers, whilst adhering to the National Minimum Standards.

If you would discuss inspection support further, or would like support to complete registration, please contact your Regional Childcare Business Development Officer. Through funding from some Local Authorities and through our National Lottery funded People and Places Project, we are able to provide tailored support to guide you through the process from policy writing, governance discussions and completing the new online registration form.

Remember, our membership is currently free for Out of School Childcare Clubs – don’t forget to complete your form by 31/3/21!
