Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs estimate the average child has lost 585 hours of play in the last year.

This year’s Playday, Wednesday, August 4th is more important than ever so we plan to go BIG!

Playday is the celebration of our children’s right to play, and a campaign highlighting the importance of play in children’s lives. The pandemic has had a big impact on our children’s mental and physical health.  Things we normally take for granted such as playing with friends and building relationships were on hold. This year, Playday is more important than ever!

This year’s Playday theme is a Summer of Play, encouraging families and communities to take part in and enjoy play.

If you’re looking for a creative way to celebrate a Summer of Play in yourcommunity, we can help.

To get your local  children, young people, their families and communities out playing we have already have a campaign and the resources you can use with just a few simple steps:

  • Share this idea with your networks and communities to host in their own community
  • There are 10 QR codes on our website you can use one or all of these codes.
  • Each QR code reveals a game for the children and young people to Play
  • Start generating interest by posting clues on your local hubs on social media by using these phrases
  • Remember to tag @clybiauplantcymrukids’clubs in  your social media postsHide the printed codes in areas around your community where it is safe to play in preparation for Play Day.
  • On Play Day, post clues to where the codes are on your local social media for children and young people to find also using #showusyourplay
