International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduction – Thursday 19 September 2022

The International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduction has been observed annually on the 29th of September. Around 17 % of total global food production is wasted and 14% of food produced is lost between harvest and retail. Food loss and waste undermine the sustainability of food production and when food is lost all the resources used to produce the food have been lost as well. For example, water, land, energy, labour, and capital. “Our food systems cannot be resilient if they are not sustainable…” Watch the video here to find out how you can reduce food waste.

Black History Month - Saturday 1 October 2022 – Monday 31 October 2022

1st October 2022 marks the beginning of Black History Month in the UK. The month is a celebration of the often-overlooked contributions of Black Britons in all areas of our history. It aims to bring awareness to the history of black people in the UK and to raise awareness and combat racism through education. This year’s theme is ‘Time for Change: Action Not Words’. To get to a better tomorrow, we can’t just focus on the past. The past is in the past. We can acknowledge and learn from it, but to improve the future, we need action, not words. We need to come together around a shared common goal to achieve a better world for everyone.

The website has resource guides especially designed for children.
