Kidz Den in Merthyr Tydfil are no strangers to fundraising, regularly looking for new ways to support their sustainability e.g. through film nights. The Club held a Fun Day on Saturday 13th July as part of our Santander funded Project, with staff and children giving up their spare time to make the event a big success! The children came up with the original fundraising idea, took part in our “Money FUNdementals” budgeting workshop and then came up with ideas of stalls and things to include (from a tin can alley to face painting), as well as creating posters (drawn and on computers) to advertise the event within their local community. On the day itself, the children manned some of the stalls, taking responsibility for payments. The Club used the donation from Santander to pay for the hall rental and some resources/things to sell, and also approached local businesses for donations (receiving additional funds, carton drinks, bouncy castles, snacks and doughnuts to support the event).
Kelly and her team, including all of the children, worked really hard to make the event a great success, raising a total of £486.55 (amazing!!), which the children have decided to use towards trips for Holiday Club. The children were invested in the success of the event due to it being child led from its inception, and felt enthusiastic about organising more events in the future!
“I loved the workshop. If I run a business when I’m older, I know what jobs need to be done now”
“We love Kidz Den, the staff always sit down and do things with us and they work really hard to make things fun”
“I know a lot more about running a Fun Day now, I hope we do more of them”
“I liked being creative and making posters”
Kidz Den’s Event will be featuring on the Fundraising Page of our Autumn edition of Y Bont, so keep a look out for more information!
Well done Kidz Den!
