9th-15th August is National Allotments Week 2021. Local allotments are a great source of mental health and wellbeing support to those who use them, but are also an excellent opportunity for intergenerational learning. Do you have an allotment local to you? Have you tried reaching out to ask about a visit (restrictions allowing)? Allotment holders are a fantastic source of knowledge about growing for children, and would no doubt be full of tips if you are trying out our ‘Grow Your Own Feast’ activities.
Below is a taster of another one of our ‘Grow Your Own Feast’ activity cards that will be useful, particularly if you are limited with your own growing space. We are also re-sharing our ‘Volunteers and Buddies’ card, along with photos of a very lovely allotment holder in Newport telling Millie and James all about growing vegetables!
If you use any of our Grow Your Own Feast activities at home or within your Out of School Childcare Club, we would love to see your photos! Share with the #growyourownfeast
