Poppy Morris currently works in Camp Coconuts/Daisy Day Nursery as a Nursery Nurse and also works in a school.
Daisy Day Nursery and Camp Coconuts provides fun packed holiday clubs during the school holidays as well as after school and full wrap around care from 7:30am – 6:30pm during term time for children aged 3-11 years in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. The wrap around is provided for a number of schools in the area, one of which is Welsh medium.
Following an email from Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs promoting Camau, Poppy decided to enrol on the Entry Part 1 course to support her to improve her Welsh skills to use within the setting. On completion she enrolled on the Camau Entry Part 2 course.
The Camau courses have improved Poppy’s confidence in speaking the Welsh language. Her improved confidence has given her the ability to converse much more frequently through the medium of Welsh in both her childcare and education roles.
Through her ability to speak to children in the language of their choice Poppy has recognised that the children who attend the Welsh medium school respond better when she speaks to them in Welsh.
Putting her training in to practice Poppy has introduced Welsh resources to the setting and during circle time they discuss colours, numbers, days of the week and the weather through the medium of Welsh.
Poppy feels more confident in using the Welsh language now and is finding it a very useful skill to have for work.Recommending CAMAU for any future Welsh training Poppy states:

Communication is good when you email [the Welsh Language Support Officer] and the support that they offer too via web calls etc and the monthly evening drop in chats."
