There are many children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) whose parents work and need their child to attend childcare provision.
There are many aspects of ASD and those aspects can more often than not give children on the spectrum complex needs. Our project aims to integrate childcare services in order to enable children with ASD to attend mainstream settings.
Same Stripes Different Waysis a course, the development of which was funded by Conwy County Borough Council, designed to give those working in childcare awareness and understanding of children with ASD. This will enable them to have greater knowledge and confidence in their ability to give fair and equal access to good quality care for all children, thereby enabling a child with ASD to integrate with their peers.
The knowledge gained will then be disseminated to other staff members within their setting, thereby ensuring the continued sustainability of the knowledge and skills.
The Same Stripes Different Ways course will be a sustainable resource as it can be delivered on demand to those working in childcare settings.Tweet
