Awareness Days

British Science Week 10th – 19th March 

An annual ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), run by the British Science Association (BSA). The Week is a longstanding calendar event for schools, community groups, libraries, museums, galleries, businesses and other institutions. Each year, they work with a range of partners to produce four activity packs, helping to support educators, families and community groups with their British Science Week plans. This year’s packs are based around the theme of ‘Connections’.

Cultivation Street Week – 6th – 12th of March 2023 

Cultivation Street Week celebrates community gardening across the UK. In the current cost of living crisis as well as shortages of fresh produce like tomatoes, gardening can be a sustainable way of accessing fresh fruits and vegetables as well as benefitting mental and physical wellbeing. Community gardens come in all shapes and sizes form small vegetable patches to larger displays of flowers. Community gardening has been proven to benefit our mental health as it connects us with nature as well as those around us. 


National No Smoking Day 2023 – Wednesday 8th of March 2023 

National No Smoking Day is an annual event that first took place on Ash Wednesday 1984. Its aim is to encourage smokers to give up cigarettes even if it is just for one day, and to raise awareness about the negative impact of smoking. For help quitting smoking the NHS has plenty of support and information to help you become smoke free and inspire the next generation to be smoke free.
