Awareness Days

July 12, 2023 – New Conversation Day

New Conversation Day is annually celebrated on July 12 worldwide. This holiday is set aside to encourage people to talk to each other, communicate their needs and intentions, and make new friends. New Conversation Day also acknowledges that starting a conversation is hard. It can be awkward and uncomfortable to start a conversation with someone you’ve just met, but new conversations can lead to incredible rewards, like friendship and community that can last a lifetime. What better way to get children to start conversations than PLAY?

July 15, 2023 – International Snowdon Race Day

International Snowdon Race is usually held on the third Saturday in July in Gwynedd, and this year, it falls on July 15. It’s a 10-mile endurance running competition,  from Llanberis to the peak of Snowdon. It’s said to be one of Europe’s toughest endurance challenges. Have you ever experienced running for 10 miles in the mountains? Non-runners can only imagine that it must be exhausting yet satisfying once the runners cross the finish line.

July 15, 2023 – World Youth Skills Day

Young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults and continuously exposed to lower quality of jobs, greater labor market inequalities, and longer and more insecure school-to-work transitions. In addition, women are more likely to be underemployed and under-paid, and to undertake part-time jobs or work under temporary contracts. Do you know someone who could excel in a career in Playwork?
