World Animal Day – 4 October 2023
World Animal Day is celebrated on the 4th of October and its mission is to raise the status of animals to improve global welfare standards. Its establishment in 1931 was a way of highlighting endangered species but has since grown to encompass more elements of animal welfare and awareness. October 4th was chosen as it coincides with the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi who was a saint well known for being an animal lover, but World Animal Day is not affiliated with any religion and is celebrated across the world.
World Space Week – 4 – 10 October 2023
Established in 1999 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, World Space Week celebrates the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.
