Halloween is said to have its origins in the Gaelic Celtic festival Samhain, which is celebrated the end of the harvest season. Over time when Christianity became the biggest religion in the Celtic lands the celebration coincided with All Saints Day on November 1^st and became known as All Hallows Eve before eventually becoming the modern celebration of Halloween. At Halloween people traditionally dress up in costumes and children are often invited trick or treating. There are many activities to do such as costume parties, apple bobbing, bonfires, haunted houses, and pumpkin carving.

Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night marks the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Guy Fawkes led by Robert Catesby and his associates attempted to blow up King James I and the Houses of Parliament. Guy Fawkes was caught and the Gunpowder Plot failed. King James I decreed that the 5^th of November should be celebrated and fireworks and bonfires burning effigies of Guy Fawkes are celebrations that have prevailed to this day in the UK.
