Children spend less time outdoors than prison inmates

Whilst the survey, originally conducted in 2016 is almost 8 years old, another recent survey carried out in England in 2022 sees a staggering 74% of children spending less time outdoors each day than prison inmates.

There are vast benefits to being outdoors, in all weathers, benefits to mental health, language, social skills, physical health as well as immune systems and so many more.

How do you prioritise children getting outside, in all weathers, in your setting? Come rain or shine, summer or winter children have a right to roam and have access to the outdoors.
